What is CALS?
CALS stands for Cardiac Surgery Advanced Life Support. CALS is a specialised training program designed to provide healthcare professionals with advanced skills and knowledge needed to manage critical situations and emergencies during and after cardiac surgery. It focuses on the immediate postoperative period and addresses potential complications and life-threatening scenarios that may arise in the cardiac surgical setting. The CALS program aims to enhance patient safety and improve outcomes in cardiac surgery through standardized protocols and specialized training for healthcare providers involved in the care of cardiac surgery patients.
